Overview
I am a certified yoga teacher, trained through the Residential 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course at Bharat Yogavidya Kendra (BYK), completed in December 2024. This immersive program, rooted in the Nath tradition under the guidance of Sri M, deepened my practice and understanding of yoga as a holistic lifestyle. Through asana, pranayama, meditation, chanting, and satsang, I cultivated the discipline, clarity, and compassion that now shape my teaching. My goal is to share yoga with kindness and inclusivity, helping students discover balance in both body and mind.
Personal Journey and Teaching Philosophy
Teaching Style
I am a newly certified yoga teacher and am eager to continue developing my teaching experience. While I don't teach yoga regularly, I have led small groups and one-on-one sessions with friends, and family. These opportunities have allowed me to grow more comfortable guiding others, while creating safe, supportive spaces for practice.
What drew me to Yoga
I was drawn to yoga for its physical benefits, calmness, balance, and clarity that helped me navigate daily life with greater ease. It also became a way to connect with my spiritual journey, helping me feel more grounded and present. This blend of physical health, mental calm, and spiritual growth continues to inspire me and motivates me to share yoga with others.
Personal Growth Through Yoga
Yoga has taught me to be more selfless, and to live with greater gratitude for everything in my life. It has also helped me become more present and mindful, guiding me toward a calmer, more balanced way of living.
Strengths as a Yoga Teacher
My teaching is centered around creating a calm and encouraging environment to build inner stillness and strength. A mindful approach highlights how yoga supports balance, flexibility, and stress relief in daily life.
Core Yoga Principles
The principle that has shaped my practice the most is Chitta Vritti Nirodha from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind. This teaching reminds me that yoga is not only about postures, but about cultivating inner calm and focus. Learning to quiet the mind through breath, movement, and awareness has brought balance and clarity to my life. It has also guided me to live with greater mindfulness and compassion, both on and off the mat, and continues to influence the way I teach and share yoga.
